Description:

This beautiful house was built by a local architect on classical Italian in accordance with up-to-date anti seismic techniques well above Costa Rican Standard.

The house has an extremely strong armature of steel beams and columns deeply anchored into the ground, which supports reinforced concrete floors. The walls are made of ferrocement panels on the outside and f wet rood gypsum panels on the inside, with a substantial gap between the two sets of panels. The house is built on three levels with a total area of 970 m2.

On the first (ground) floor, the ample lobby entrance – in the style of an Italian castle leads to a solid travertine marble double staircase with high-rise ceilings in a unique crown-like design. The staircase is adorned by an artistic wrought iron balustrade crafted by a Spanish master craftsman (who also made all other wrought iron work in the house). The terrace – with attractive Mountain View and beautiful sunsets – is decorated with Doric columns and surrounded by decorative wrought – iron balustrades on an Italian design.

The first floor further includes an executive office with fine handcrafted wood cabinetry attached to the walls and a French window giving onto a small balcony with a wrought – iron balustrade; a formal living room; a family dining room and a guest room with unsuited bathroom.

There are two large state-of –the-art kitchens (one for her and one for him) with elegant handcrafted cupboards, cabinets, chests of drawers and shelves, attached to the wall, three granite-topped central islands and two walk-in pantries. The kitchen equipment includes and inbuilt hood with filters and a powerful extractor on the roof, electric and gas ranges, two wall ovens, two dishwashers, etc.

The second floor comprises three ample suites, each one containing a bedroom, a living room, a walk-in closet and a bathroom. The Master suite is of an Indian style. A superb library or exercise room forms part of one of the other suites. One the same floor, there is a family TV room with fireplace opening onto a vast terrace (similar to the one on the 1st floor but with Ionic columns) with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Central Valley.

The basement – in fact, a second ground floor as the house is built on a slope –consist of a large room with ensuite bathroom (built as a games or billiards room but could be used as an extra guest room), maid quarters with bathroom, a large laundry room leading to an elegant canopied drying area, a wine cellar, several storage rooms with inbuilt shelves and a three-car garage with remote-control garage doors.

The house has some original general features which differentiate it from most houses in Costa Rica. Among them can be mentioned US-made Andersen windows with double glazing, ultraviolet screening and mosquito screening on all windows and most doors, artistic protective wrought iron railings on windows and external doors, an alarm system with camera and cctv between guardhouse, caretaker s house and main house; graphic eye lighting system with top-of-the line Lutron dimmer switches throughout, a dual American an European electrical wiring system (110 and 220 volts); a Panasonic internal telephone system interconnecting all rooms, a dual TV cable and satellite system with plugs in most rooms (receiving Cable Tica and Direct TV). It is also noteworthy that the house water supply is provided not only by municipal water pipes but also by a deep well feeding two underground water tanks.

The well landscaped 10000 m2 garden, with four magnificent old Guanacaste trees, coffee plantation, fruit trees and flower beds, is surrounded by walls and fences.

The beautiful remote-controlled electric wrought iron entrance gates are based on a design from the Chateau of Versailles. The gates open onto a roundabout leading to a bridge over a small creek which runs down the side of the property. On the right hand side, there is a small guardhouse with shower and toilet.

The driveway lit by lampposts, entours the whole property. At the main entrance, there is a covered portico containing a classical Italian fountain in a Barocco grotto.

Also on the property there is a 75 m2 two-bedroomed house for employees or guests situated above a 100m2 storage room.
